About the Author
Raymond A. Serway (PhD, Illinois Institute of Technology) is Professor Emeritus at James Madison University. His honors and awards include an honorary doctorate degree from his alma mater, Utica College, the 1990 Madison Scholar Award at James Madison University, the Distinguished Teaching Award at Clarkson University in 1977, and the Alumni Achievement Award from Utica College in 1985. As Guest Scientist at the IBM Research Laboratory in Zurich, Switzerland, he worked with K. Alex Müller, 1987 Nobel Prize recipient. He was a visiting scientist at Argonne National Laboratory, where he collaborated with his mentor and friend, the late Sam Marshall. Dr. Serway is the coauthor of COLLEGE PHYSICS, Eleventh Edition; PHYSICS FOR SCIENTISTS AND ENGINEERS, Ninth Edition; PRINCIPLES OF PHYSICS, Fifth Edition; ESSENTIALS OF COLLEGE PHYSICS; MODERN PHYSICS, Third Edition; and the high school textbook PHYSICS, published by Holt McDougal. He has published more than 40 research papers in the field of condensed matter physics and has given more than 60 presentations at professional meetings.

Chris Vuille (PhD, University of Florida) is associate professor of physics at Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University, the world's premier institution for aviation higher education. While he has taught courses at all levels, including postgraduate, his primary interest is the teaching of introductory physics courses. He conducts research in general relativity, astrophysics, cosmology, and quantum theory and was a participant in a special three-year NASA grant program where he studied properties of neutron stars. His work has appeared in many scientific journals and in ANALOG SCIENCE FICTION/SCIENCE FACT magazine. He is the coauthor of COLLEGE PHYSICS, Eleventh Edition and ESSENTIALS OF COLLEGE PHYSICS.

Highway Robbery

The book is fine but no concept less than 200 years old ajd no gold leaf. Why $300? Im a professor teaching this class for the first time so maybe Ill find some amazing thing later.
I understand everyone needs to put bread on te table but Serway and Voille, really!?! $300/broke student on a super basic course everyone has to take. Then you have the gaul to mention how we need to make the studenta buy this and that to keep the book price from going up to pay for what?
Don't know how you guys can look yourselves in the mirror!

I thought I was stupid, then I realized it was just the book.

This is hands down the worst book I've ever had to deal with.
The authors don't have an adequate understanding of punctuation in the English language.
The examples given at the end of each section don't even walk you through the problem.
It's a joke.
This book doesn't offer the instruction or information that you need in order to answer the questions at the end of the chapter.

Careful with this Book

I bought this book so that I don't have to purchase the split edition (Volume I and II). Essentially, it is the same book, same edition, and written by the same authors. What I didn't know was that the end of the chapter questions are out of order compared to the split edition. They're the same problems but in different order. The instructor assigned problems from the split edition and I have to make the extra effort of going through the problems to find out which one he assigned in my book. What is more bothersome is when I use Chegg's solutions to figure out if I done the problems correctly is that the solution are in the order of the split edition. Better to buy the split edition than this crap.

Good resource.

This is a good resource if you want to get into Event Planning, or have found yourself in an Event Planning job, and want to learn about the core process, and get some tips for managing the process and increasing your professionalism. There aren't many event coordinating books out there that aren't totally outdated, but this is a good one. If you're looking at it, you should probably get it.

Reginald Owen Morris was a British composer and teacher. He was born in York and was educated at Harrow School, New College, Oxford and the Royal College of Music in London, where he subsequently became professor of counterpoint and composition. After working with this text for a short two weeks my reading of different clefs and notes with many ledger lines has improved drastically. Great to work on with a partner on the piano, or alone, playing both lines or playing one line and singing the other.

Very useful book

This book does exactly what it should do: it teaches you to read all manner of transpositions and clefs. The only reason why I am not giving it five stars is that it's just so unlovable: it's a mental ordeal! That said, I never would have passed my Fellowship exam for the American Guild of Organists without it.

Fred Smith does a brilliant job in this book. He writes from a reservoir of experience on leadership. I particularly like his concept of what a leader's authority is: the leader's ability to lead is his gift and basis of authority among those he leads. I find this helpful and biblical.

For starters, Rasputin is one of the most intriguing, fascinating characters in Russian and (because he influenced the Russian Tsar's decisions) world history as well. That's why `The Gypsy Witch'--set in the time of Rasputin--is a well-woven tale about a young, beautiful gypsy who falls in love with what would turn out to be the most notorious man in Russia.

This book is a highly entertaining "what if" story: what if Rasputin meets a woman who could determine his ultimate fate? The result is Roberta Kagan's deeply absorbing tale of love, loss, revenge and poetic justice. Rasputin, as history tells us, seemed "unkillable"--numerous attempts had been made on his life, and the way he stayed alive despite those threats has always been the stuff of legend. Sure, his assassins eventually succeeded in their deed, but `The Gypsy Witch' offers a clever explanation that feels right at home with the novel's plot--but let me leave it at that to avoid giving out spoilers.

Needless to say, this book is something that will take hold in your heart and thrive there. Zigeuya's story of romance, dejection, desperation and, ultimately, vengeance is as unforgettable as any of those timeless tales about unconditional love. And setting this tale in the last decades of Tsarist Russia's existence is a clever way to make the tale all the more believable.

A Beautiful Story of Love and Loss

This is the first book I've read by Roberta Kagan. I thoroughly enjoyed this book from beginning to end! The characters are depicted with in great detail and the setting is described in a way that makes you feel you are right there. Zigeuya, even though a Gypsy witch, experienced the pains and sorrows of life. She fell in love with a man who lied to her and left her alone. She worked hard to take care of her mother after her father passed. When she least expected, she found the man she would spend the rest of her days with. She experienced times of happiness and joy; she also experienced times of desperation and sorrow.

This book proves the belief that love is a powerful emotion and drives people to do things they never thought they would do.

I highly recommend this book. I'm looking forward to reading more books from this author!

Aside from a few grammatical errors throughout the book, I thought it was great. There was never a dull moment. I would definitely recommend reading this if you're looking for a short read that merges a story of magic and romance.
