packed with legalese

I used this book to study for the LARE Section 1. It’s an extremely thorough and detailed textbook going into a lot of the insurance, legal and contract parts of the business. It covers a lot of important things to know that don’t come up in the day-to-day of an intern’s work. Questions relating to these issues did come up on the exam, so I’m glad I read it, even if it is a dense and dry read.

For the LARE Section 1 exam, I studied Project Management for Design Professionals by Ramroth, Construction Contracts, 2nd Edition by Hinze, the PPI LARE Review Section A Practice Problems and the PPI LARE Review Section A Sample Exam. I passed.

About the Author
Fawzieh A. Bader is an author of several works and a long-time educator.
She specializes in teaching Arabic as a foreign language. She has over 30 years of experience in teaching the language, and culture, at numerous levels and to students from extensive backgrounds, varying academic levels, and a broad range of professions. She served as an instructor at the University of Jordan (Languages Center) for 10 years.
Her experience extends to teaching both colloquial and classical Arabic dialects, in addition to teaching grammar, reading, writing and conversational skills, Arabic language usage in specific areas, like politics, economics, and human rights issues, and instructing on methods for teaching Arabic as a foreign language. She also helped students prepare for international Arabic proficiency exams, such as the CASA exam.
She holds a Master's Degree in the Arabic language, with additional backgrounds in education and psychology.

Clear & easy to follow

The book helps you build a logical understanding of the language in an every day context of use. The reading and comprehension texts are followed by exercises and vocabulary that you can relate to daily encounters. Its cultural insight is very helpful in drawing a picture of the Arab world to students of the culture as well as the language. The CD is a very good way to check your pronunciation against that of a native Arabic speaker. I recommend this book to anyone who wants to learn Arabic in a straightforward and intuitive way.

While the subjects of her books at first glance seem disparate, they are actually unified by a central theme of the exploration of subjects in American history--and especially in the American West--that have been neglected or marginalized. What she has done in her 30-year career is to explore the unmentioned truths about America--what the eminent scholar Daniel Boorstin called "Hidden History." She is a Guggenheim fellow, a Woodrow Wilson public scholar, a Hoover Institute Media Fellow, a Black Mountain/Kluge fellow, the recipient of two Western Heritage Awards, and has been inducted into the Nevada Writers Hall of Fame. She is a fourth generation Nevadan, where she began her journalism career in 1976, and is a longtime resident of Santa Fe, New Mexico.

Intrigue and Deception

Sally Denton has written a book that this Kentuckian would have never thought possible! By examining what starts out as a simple rogue Lexington cop, she (through the work of a Kentucky State Trooper) follows a trail that leads to an exposure of absolute corruption. What one would think is a simple drug peddling ring turns out to have significant connections with South American governments, Quadaffi, major players in the Kentucky government, and a potential presidential candidate. This book in intriguing from the first sentence to the final page. I highly recommend it to anyone.

It is an interesting read on how things were here in Kentucky back in the day.

I grew up in the local area during the time frame covered by this book. It is pretty spot on in history and political positions.

Although what actually happened to Drew is still in question to some, this book gives a good overview of the time frame and the people involved. Money, drugs and all the expected ill gains were a big part of Kentucky history.

I thought it was an interesting read especially since I know of and knew personally several of the people written about in the book.I think some of the details could and should have been elaborated on, but the author had her story to tell not mine.

It is an interesting read on how things were here in Kentucky back in the day.

Truth is more scary than fiction!!

This was to replace an old paperback version of the book, probably 1995 or thereabouts. Great story, and very well researched. However, it could have been better written. It is difficult to go from a live TV news reporter to actually putting the words on paper, and she had a bit of trouble. However, I would recommend it.

It was like being a part of their family!

The final book in the Redwood Pack series was great and a little melancholy also. I loved the whole series and getting to know all of the Jamensons through their good times and bad and seeing them get their HEA's. It was like being a part of their family. Though I'm sad to see this series end, I'm looking forward to Carrie Ann's new series about the Talon Pack and getting to revisit the Jamenson kids. If you haven't read this series yet, grab it you won't be sorry. Great work Carrie Ann!!

An excellent sned off for the Jamensons.....

I went into Fighting Fate with mixed emotions. On one hand I couldn't wait to start and was so looking forward to at last reading Cailin and Logan's story but this was overshadowed by the fact that this is the final instalment in the Redwood Pack series and I didn't want the story to end.....

Carrie didn't disappoint and she finished the series with a bang.... Fighting Fate is a fantastic read and an excellent way to say goodbye to this generation of Jamensons.

Cailin & Logan have been dancing round each other, doing everything they could to avoid facing the obvious attraction between them... Will they finally deal with their feelings and the connection that they seem to have?!
The war that has been raging around the Redwoods is nearing it's climax and everyone knows it - they just don't know what to expect or how things are gonna turn out!!!

So much to deal with and so little time to prepare....

One of the main things I loved about the book was the continued focus on the Jamensons as a family as well as pack... We are reminded again of how important they are to each other and how they would do all and anything they had to for each other!!!

Action, drama, tension, surprises, heat & passion, pain & heartbreak, it's all packed into this final book and makes for a heart-racing (jeez, at times a nigh on heart-stopping!!) ride!

Grab yourself a copy of Fighting Fate, take yourself off somewhere quiet - 'cos you won't want to be disturbed once you start reading - and lose yourself in the final instalment of the Redwood Pack's story!!

** A word of warning before you do start reading ~ you're gonna need tissues... lots & lots of tissues - and maybe take the next day off work to avoid people seeing your big red puffy eyes...or you could wear some dark glasses - just sayin'!! ;)

About the Author
Richard Pilbrow first made his mark at Olivier's National Theatre, lighting shows such as the first Rosencrantz and Guildenstern are Dead. He revolutionised stage lighting in Britain, designing the system for the new National and setting up Theatre Projects, the first independent lighting and sound design and theatre design consultancy company in the UK, now active internationally. He has been a consultant for theatres and concert halls in over 80 countries.

Information and inspiration

This book helped me make the decision to go for lighing design as a career .... the first half has the info most of us in the industry have picked up on stage but orders it very well, the second has many wonderful anechdotes from his and many others careers. Its the only lighing book I have found that one can enjoy reading again and again.

If you are in lighting you must read this book.

This is the only book on Stage Lighting that I've come across that covers the whole spectrum of the possiblities of lighting. Mr. Pilbrow covers the range of knowledge you must have to be an effective designer -- everything from how to setup your paperwork and reports to the most esoteric of design concepts. My personal favorite couple of lines talks briefly on how you have to think about where to position the light board during rehearsals to either be in the middle of or to get away from the political center of power. There is no other author out there that can speak clearly about the evolution of lighting from oil lamp to Vari-Lite. Basically, living the life of a true designer is all about collecting visuals and techniques that intrigue and excite us and using and reinterpreting those ideas through our own personalities. With Mr. Pilbrow's book, you will never find a more comprehensive single source of those lighting ideas and techniques. Don't read the book because you have to. Read the book because it will make you a better designer.

The best book on theatre lighting anywhere

I bought this last year, and it quickly became one of my favourite books of all time. It's well written, and is packed full of information. But that's only the beginning. Pilbrow has chucked in years of experience and anecdote, not only from his own extensive career, but also from many other excellent designers. Whenever I'm lighting a show, I take this book with me. In a way, it is my own lighting assistant. This is a must, not only for lighting people, but also directors and producers. And that is because this book endevours to emphasise the 'art' of lighting, and not just the craft.
And it's about time.

Here also are found compositions in epistolary style that are actually sermons, mediations, prayers, or treatises on a wide range of theological topics, such as prophecy, celebration of the Mass, the Lord's Prayer, the creation, and the fall of Adam. Mediaeval Masterpiece

Here, in the third volume of a three volume set
is the translation of the written correspondence
between Hildegard of Bingen and many of her contemporaries.
Included among her pen pals are some of the most well-known
figures in history.

If you have any interest in Medieval history
and Christian theology/philosophy,
these letters from one of the greatest Christian mystics,
spiritual masters, theologians, artists, musicians
and intellectuals of all time must be included in your library.
You will read it again and again.

It is the kind of book that is hard to stop reading.
Because the letters are short, you can sample the book
for only a few minutes at a time.

A visionary, having received private revelations
from God from the age of five years,
she kept them mostly to herself until in her 40's
when instructed by the Pope to share them.
Many of her letters contain revelations that may not
be recorded elsewhere. How cool is that!

Unfortunately, all three volumes of her letters
in the English translation are out of print.
Get them if you can find them.
